Happy Tuesday! Welcome to another week of great new music.
Let me just jump right in and get to the good stuff. My favorite release of the week comes from Icebird, a collaboration between hip-hop producer/musician RJD2 and vocalist Aaron Livingston (who can be heard singing on The Roots‘ “Guns Are Drawn“). The album The Abandoned Lullaby is a great mix of beats, rock, and soul. With no fewer than four studio albums under his belt, RJD2 has a track record of fusing hip-hop beats with myriad sounds to get that perfect beat. Livingston layers his soul/rock/folk vocals on top of the tracks, creating a buzzworthy sound, to say the least. Some of the album’s standouts are “I’m Green”, “Just Love Me”, and “Charmed Life”, but all of the tracks are definitely worth a listen.
