Hello there Musicheads. Welcome to November. We usher in this first day of the 11th month of the year with a ridiculous number of great new releases that you’ll want to get RIGHT NOW.

One of my favorite releases out this week comes from Idle Warship, a collaboration between hip-hop artist Talib Kweli and singer Res. Although Idle Warship has previously released several singles and an EP, Habits of the Heart is the first full-length release. A great blend of hip-hop, soul, and rock with boundless energy. I’ve been telling folks about this album for about a month and after one listen, I think you’ll be hooked too.
Musician Georgia Anne Muldrow has a new album out today titled Owed to Mama Rickie Mama, a nod to her mother, singer-songwriter Rickie Byars Beckwith. The 12-track album is soulful, thought-provoking, and inventive. Muldrow is one of those artists that I’ve been waiting for people to notice for years. Not only is she a singer, she is an accomplished songwriter and producer, skills that put her heads above so many of her contemporaries. She’s just that good.
Other new releases out today from Black Milk and Danny Brown, Brite Futures, The Decemberists, Florence + The Machine, Girl In a Coma, Insane Clown Posse, Miranda Lambert, Megadeath, Mike Patton, Rapper Big Pooh, Lou Reed and Metallica, Tyrese, and Wale.
Before you click the download button or rush out to your local music retailer, take a gander at videos for the latest singles by Idle Warship, Girl in a Coma, and Florence + the Machine.
