
The 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees have been announced.This year’s list of seven artists includes a prolific bluesman, a group of funky Californian rockers, and a brilliant singer/songwriter known for her innovative, distinctive style.
This year’s inductees are Beastie Boys, Donovan, Guns N’ Roses, Freddie King, Laura Nyro, Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Small Faces. Artists are eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. This means that Guns N’ Roses is inducted in their first year of eligibility since Appetite for Destruction was released in 1987.
In addition to these artists, several members of the music community are being recognized for their contribution to music, including the legendary Don Kirshner, who is recognized with the Ahmet Ertegun Award for Lifetime Achievement.
