The much-anticipated new album from the Robert Glasper Experiment is a week away from releasee, but thanks to the good people at NPR, fans are able to get a preview now. RGE’s Black Radio is streaming at NPR.com this week, and it is oh so good. The core group of Robert Glasper (keyboards), Casey Benjamin (sax and vocoder), Derrick Hodge (bass), and Chris Dave (drums) are on their game, giving listeners their jazzy interpretations of classic tunes (Sade’s “Cherish the Day”, David Bowie’s “Letter to Hermione”, Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”), as well as laying down the goodness on some original tracks. The album also features a veritable smorgasbord of today’s talented artists: Erykah Badu, Yaslin Bey (Mos Def), Ledisi, Bilal, Lupe Fiasco, Chrisette Michele, and so many more. Get a jump on the new album now, which is available for pre-order at Amazon and iTunes.
